October in Córdoba
Despite its latitude, the weather in the City of Córdoba, as in most of the province, is warm with four well defined seasons. In general terms, it features the weather typical of The Pampas region. Winters are not too cold and rainfall is scarce. Summers are damp, with hot days and cool nights. Winds from the East and West are unusual, brief and have low intensity. Springs are featured with strong winds mainly from the North and Northeast while a cyclone center sets up in the polar front. Summers often have electrical storms and even hail.
These are the reasons why the temperature is, on average, cooler than in other parts of the world with the same latitudes: altitude and, specially, because the province is located in the wind direction of Pamperos winds, cold winds blow from the Southwest quadrant coming from the Antarctica.
Its average mean temperature throughout the 20th Century was 18ºC. In January, the hottest month of the southern summer, the mean maximum temperature is 31ºC and the minimum is 17ºC. In July, the coldest month, mean temperatures are 19ºC maximum and 4ºC minimums.
The central part, with large buildings and located in a hollow, is the core of a significant urban island of heat. Besides, there is smog but without health consequences.
