The significant development of Intelligent Transport Systems worldwide has proven the benefits they offer, not only those purely economic, but also those benefits resulting in increased road safety levels, increased information available for road users, reduced travel time and eradication of useless itineraries. This Commission will present and discuss the latest advances on the matter and will promote their implementation. In turn, the demanding conditions that infrastructure and its operation have to meet require ongoing technological development –an aspect generally disregarded in developing countries. Technological development and research are two basic tools to enter into a new world marked by globalization and competition.
This Commission will also discuss all aspects related to the implementation of new technologies, the promotion of applied research and the transfer of technology, among sectors and at international level.
