All the aspects related to efficient and safe road traffic have to be taken into account from the very moment the relevant project begins to be discussed. In this Commission issues directly related to geometric design of roads, design rules and standards and planning of every element that make up the road will be considered, such as masonry or concrete structures, whether large or small, which are fundamental when designing a road, and require new technologies, during the project and the construction, in order to achieve efficient operation and reduced costs. This Commission will analyze all aspects related to bridge and tunnel design, construction and maintenance, as well as material usage techniques and masonry or concrete structures assessment and management methods. Generally, the need for infrastructure expansion has a negative impact on the environment. This impact has to be considered, both at project and operation levels, in order to analyze the corresponding mitigation, repair and/or offset measures. This is also the case for road infrastructure, and it is therefore necessary to consider all its aspects. This Commission will analyze the different topics related to environmental management.
